LIB204-07 - Final Project

The impetus behind my final project for Robert Boyd's LIB204-07 class, Information Management, was two-fold. One, I used to teach 8th grade, and have an abiding respect and compassion for teenagers, who so frequently are judged by artificial and preconceived standards, rather than on the quality of their person; two, I find myself firmly in the camp of live virtual reference being an exciting and inevitable future for our profession.

There are three parts to this presentation. First, the audio slideshow in PowerPoint, which will download from the below link and detail the different facets and expectations for this program.
Second, a sample performance indicator rubric that could be customized to a given library/reference service as appropriate. Lastly, an annotated bibliography and reference list providing an overview of the current literature on digital/virtual reference in libraries and information centers.

When I first read the description of and requirements for this project at the beginning of the semester, it seemed almost insurmountable, considering how new I am to this field; I find myself submitting this tonight having thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and the level of enthusiasm my research and work has engendered for my career after finishing this degree.
